Displaced Love is about an exile of the heart caused by a reckless affair with the glamour of art. Antonello writes short stories. He keeps giving his stories to his friends and then contacting them to get their reactions, but receives no return telephone calls. Lonely, he falls in love with the first person who shows interest in his writing: Rosie, a young colleague at work. On his way to his first date with Rosie, Antonello receives a phone call from an old friend (Mark) who invites him to a celebration party in honor of a famous writer. Antonello initially refuses, then changes his mind. He calls Mark back, lies to him about Rosie, and goes to the celebration party, leaving Rosie waiting for him at a street corner. Later that day, Antonello receives a message on his answering machine, from his 'conscience' and older friend, Joe.
