(2008)
An African American teenager, Windler Barstow, on the verge of realizing his life long dream to play college football, finds himself in Australia after his father Kevin is critically injured working on an oil rig off Tasmania. Windler and mother Candyce immediately rush to Kevin's side to Melbourne, Australia, where a can of worms is opened on the already fragmented Barstow family. Candyce confronts a lifetime of neglect by her husband, and Windler's dream of playing college football starts to evaporate fast. With the only code of football played in Melbourne being the unique and fierce game of 'footy', Windler gets drawn to train with the school footy team, the Blues, purely to stay in shape whilst awaiting news of a college football scholarship back home. Windler however quickly becomes the poster boy for a nasty racial divide within the team. As Kevin emerges from a coma, and fights through physical rehabilitation, and Candyce confronts her own demons, Windler struggles to develop as a footy player, fighting a barrage of racial, cultural, and sporting barriers. When hopes totally fade for a college football scholarship back home, Windler realises footy is all he has left to rekindle his dreams, and keep his family together. Written by Unknown
