(1997)
A teenage girl living in the ruins of the Romanov's palace finds herself running from the Secret Police with her four magic instruments, who are all she has left of her family, whom she can't remember. In a baggage car on a freight train, the young girl, Anastasia, finds the former General of the Tzar's army, Vladimir Ichonovitch, stowing away in a suitcase. Ichonovitch assumes from the beginning that Anastasia is out to prove that she's the heir to the Romanov throne, and that she wants the fortune. Anastasia, of course, knows nothing of this, but gets sucked into the con with Ichonovitch, who teaches her family history and dresses her up. Gradually, Anastasia's memory comes back to her, and she proves to the Duke at a ball that she is the real Anastasia Romanov. There, she meets Prince Paul, a dashing prince whom Anastasia was engaged to at two years old. Ichonovitch is jealous, because he had developed feelings for Anastasia, and follows the couple around. Paul helps Anastasia get an audience with the Grand Duchess, or "Grandmama", but the meeting doesn't go well. After being thrown out of the room, Anastasia begins to sing a song she'd known all her life to make herself feel better. "Grandmama" is shocked, for it was a lullaby which she had sung to Anstasia and Anastasia only. That proves the identity of the girl, and she is welcomed into the family. Then, Anastasia is kidnapped by the Secret Police, and learns that Prince Paul is really the Bad Checka, the leader of the Secret Police. Ichonovitch comes to the rescue, and ends up drowning the Bad Checka, and injuring himself close to death. The instruments then reveal that they are Anastasia's family, and that by revealing it, they must go away forever, but they can bring back Ichonovitch if Anastasia sings to him from the bottom of her heart, proving that she loves him. Ichonovitch regains consciousness, and the story ends on a happy, lovely note. Written by April
