Shivani and Aditya Malhotra live a comfortable lifestyle in a palatial home with their two children, Tanula and Manula. After a few years Shivani finds out that Aditya is having an affair with a younger, attractive woman named Sonia. When she confronts Aditya, he admits he is in love with Sonia, so they separate. When Sonia is unable to conceive, Aditya asks Shivani to give him custody of the children, and on refusal, Aditya approaches the Courts for custody. Shivani is determined to keep the children, however, the matter keeps on getting postponed, and soon she loses track, and on one occasion when she is absent, the Court decides in Aditya's favor and grants custody of both children to him.
