The town of Black Lake, in Quebec (Canada), has seen its future put in jeopardy. The British Canadian mine which has been the main employer in Black Lake for 107 years closed on November 1st 1997. With the closing of the mine, 1,300 jobs have disappeared. In a town of 4,500 citizens, this means catastrophe.
