Approximately ten nautical miles from the Trapani coast in Sicily, lies a three-island archipelago, one of which looks like a butterfly from above. This small island is the largest of the Egadi Islands and is name is Favignana. The women of the island's community constitute a means of survival. By ways that may differ among them but can be traced to a single common denominator, they pull the strings of life in Favignana in ways that can at times be surprising and in our opinion, much unlike what you'd expect from a small Sicilian town.
