Saver, an old poet who has retired to the Southern city of Auch, asks his son Etienne to set to music one of his poems inspired by his own contemplation of ancient stained-glass windows. Etienne, although he has fallen out with his father, accepts and, without making up with Saver for all that, will compose a masterly work. Written by Guy Bellinger
