Tony Curtis plays a musician dropped into NYC straight from a bus from a small town in the Midwest somewhere. After he meets Debbie Reynolds, a down-on-her-luck dance hall girl employed by the sadistic Don Rickles, he invites her to (platonically) share his one-room flat.
