Riley Greenleaf is a publisher and Alan Mallory is his principal asset, a successful writer. But Alan Mallory has decided to change publisher. Riley then threatens to kill him and hires Eddie Kane, a veteran from Vietnam, to murder Alan and to leave evidence that the killer is Riley himself who has an excellent alibi.
