A rebellious teen (Vessey) threatened with expulsion from school is offered an alternative: an experimental program in which she would counsel troubled children. Initially rebelling from the concept, she finds that her involvement lets her confront her own angers and eventually her family including a loving grandmother (Carroll Baker). With the help of a new friend (Ryan Francis), she eventually turns away from her trouble-making boy friend (Scott Caan) and makes a new life.
