End of the 60's. The Psychiatric hospital of Extremadura, the lodges patients drunkards and wanderings with no distinction, succumbs to the methods and laziness of his director. BURGOS (Alberto Jiménez) pay attention to satisfy to the authorities but no to the necessities of its patients. Nevertheless, the appearance of MATEO (Hugo Silva), an idealist tramp closest to the genius than to madness, supposes a complete change in the routine of the place. His rebelliousness and his protective instinct to LOLA (María Valverde) a secluded beauty young girl mistreated since childhood, feels attracted by him. He also earns CARMEN's (Irene Visedo) respect, a doctor who will see in him a support her reformist intentions.
