Savitri's (Nutan) twin sons were snatched by notorious Gama Mating (Danny Denzongpa) at a very young age. Inspector Bhargav (Arun Govil) comes to the aid of Savitri, but is himself killed in the process. Savitri brings up Bhargav's son, Vikram, as her own. Years later, Vikram (Jackie Shroff) has grown up to be a police inspector like his dad. And Savitri's two children have also grown up to be Public Prosecutor Avinash and underworld criminal named Junior (both Anil Kapoor). Gama Mating is now known as Mr. Chinoy, a reputed industrialist. When Chinoy finds out that Savitri is still alive, he sets up Junior to kill her, and frame Avinash, and Junior agrees to do so, not knowing that he has accepted a contract to kill his own mother and let his sibling take the blame.
