Metallica以全球8千5百万张的专辑销售量高居全美SoundScan唱片销售时期以来唱片销售总排名TOP 5，出道以来一首又一首撼动全美主流摇滚榜的经典，在继1997年《ReLoad重装》就没有新作的他们，久违六年之后狂嚣推出他们的最新录音室专辑《St. Anger》，让许多重金属迷是兴奋不已，他们甚至还为了首支新单曲的音乐录像带拍摄勇闯圣昆汀监狱，在一群重刑犯前演出！ 除此之外，这支摇滚劲旅也在今年被MTV台选为“MTV辉煌巨星”，邀请林普巴兹提特、艾薇儿、林肯公园等艺人一同向这些乐坛老大哥们致敬。 这张久违的新专辑的录制过程其实艰辛万分，先是主唱詹姆斯进出戒毒中心接受治疗，然后原任贝斯手杰森离去，虽然最后找到曾为大名鼎鼎的Ozzy Osbourne伴奏的罗伯加入，但因报到的太晚，也来不及参与新专辑的录制，种种突发状况让这张新碟的发行市困难重重。 为了拍摄这张新辑的首支同名单曲的MV，这些团员们还勇闯美国旧金山的圣昆汀监狱，这个监狱最有名的就是有一个“No Hostage Policy”，也就是狱方并无保护人质政策，简单来说就是任何人在狱中发生了任何被囚犯挟持或其它的意外，就只能靠上天保佑，并没有人能够保证会出面去援救人质安全出来。不过他们也在两天内把这支相当特殊的MV拍摄完成，顺便还开了一场小型演唱会，让犯人极其兴奋。 这支已经纵横乐坛20年的乐团，随着新专辑的推出，也向林普巴兹提特和linkin park这两支表现优秀的后辈发出号召，邀请他们一起上路狂飙，展开夏季巡回“Summer Sanitarium Tour”，这也将再度证明他们在重金属摇滚领域的龙头老大的地位。
