《美国之声》移植自欧洲的Voice of Holland（荷兰之声），是一档很红的歌唱类真人秀。 The Voice由三个阶段组成：盲眼海选，对内擂台战以及最终的直播秀。四名评委/教练将会在盲眼海选环节中通过大约一分钟的选手演唱来决定是否邀请该选手加入自己的队伍。如果多余两名教练选择了同一位选手，选择权交给选手自己。 每一队的参赛者都会得到各自教练的指导和开发。在节目第二阶段，教练们将会让自己对内的两名选手共同演唱同一首歌曲，再由教练决定谁进入决赛。最终的决赛将会有剩余的16名选手在现场直播的比赛中，通过观众的投票选出The Voice的获胜者。
