Graduated from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1987.
He won the 1997 Olivier theatre award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical, for his role as 'Nicely Nicely Johnson' in Guys and Dolls at the National Theatre.
He was nominated for the 1993 Oliver Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical for his role in as 'Mr. Snow' in Carousel at the National Theatre. He was also nominated for the 2009 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre for his role as the Dame in Hackney Empire's 2008/9 production of Mother Goose.
He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2017 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to Drama. He is an actor in London, England.
